Batman and I talking about about his fitness routine!
On a recent family holiday we finished with a trip to Movie World for the kids, and the big kids, ha. It’s always a lot of fun combined with the test of one’s patience in lining up in queues, being pushed, waiting for…well everything, but still somehow it turns out to be a fun time!
The Scooby Doo Ride is one of my kids favourites so it was repeated a number of times. On this particular time we were about to get on when there was a hold up in the carriage in front of us. We watch as an obese lady tried to fit into the carriage. She had difficulty getting down to the seat and fitting the safety harness over her. She tried, as well as the operator for some time, to only be refused to ride because she was unable to fit all her body inside the carriage.
Now I’m not obese, have never been and it is always such a touchy subject when you write or talk about obesity for a lot of people. Some people will tell me “I don’t understand” – But I figure there are 3 solutions to this problem:
1 – The woman is still allowed to ride regardless of safety regulations and the embarrassment of having to get out and walk past everyone is avoided;
2-A larger cart is made available;
OR
3-She has a snap point right there and starts the journey to change her life.
My ten year old daughter said ” I feel so sorry for her Mum.”
I wanted to say “it doesn’t have to be this way. Find your why, use that snap point as the fuel to change your life. There is a better way. One life, one chance to give it all you’ve got. Don’t miss out, don’t pretend everything is ok when its really not.”
Maybe it wasn’t a big deal for her? Maybe I am reading too much into it?
Over the years, clients that truly have a “why” get results.
What’s your why? Is it to be able to run with your kids? Bend down to kiss them goodnight? Mend a broken body? Fit into your wetsuit so you can go swimming at Christmas? What is it? Find it and you’ll find the reason to start and continue on the journey to a healthier you.
I talked to a friend about this incident who had the same thing happen to her a number of years ago. She decided enough was enough and started the journey to change her life. Good on her…
